The Origins of the Runes

The runic alphabet—often called the Elder Futhark—dates back to roughly the first centuries of the Common Era. These characters were used throughout parts of Northern Europe for writing, marking objects, and memorial inscriptions.

Norse mythology later added poetic stories about the discovery of the runes, including the well-known tale of Odin gaining knowledge of them while hanging from the world tree, Yggdrasil. These stories reflect the deep cultural significance the symbols held within those societies.

Today, the runes are appreciated not only for their historical importance but also for their symbolic meanings and the themes they represent.

What Runes Represent

These handmade sets are designed to be beautiful, tactile tools for personal reflection.
